Critical Incident Intervention
From the terrorist
attack on the Fourth of July, 2002 in the LAX Airport terminal
to school shootings, active shooters are a growing threat to
public safety. Malls, airports, stadiums, train stations, and
other public places are at risk of violent terrorist attack.
Schools are particularly vulnerable, exposing their students
and faculty members.
An analysis of these
incidents has shown that by the time the tactical response team
arrives on the scene, most casualties have already occurred.
To manage these threats effectively, immediate intervention
is crucial.
The high density
environment is one of the most challenging environments in which
an officer can be called upon to operate. Unknown structures,
crowded lines of fire, panic stricken bystanders, and the possibility
of suspects hiding within, make it a complex task.
This program
is designed to enhance police first responder skills
and prepare command management and coordination of a
critical incident.
